uvex move climate protection project for employees combines sport with sustainability
The uvex group's employees gathered 3,333 trees during uvex move 2022, a sports and climate protection project that combines exercise with sustainability. The idea: employees collect kilometers during sporting activities and the family-owned company from Fürth finances a reforestation project with its partner TreePlantingProjects in the local metropolitan region. There was a choice of many of the sporting disciplines for which the uvex group develops and produces its well-known products, such as cycling and riding helmets as well as sports and lifestyle eyewear. From running, jogging and walking to cycling, horseback riding, hiking and swimming: All in all, uvex group employees covered a total of 31,470 km.
Protecting people at work, in sports and during leisure time is the credo of the family-owned company. "protecting planet is the logical continuation of this mission when it comes to the responsible treatment of people and nature," explained Michael Winter, managing partner of the uvex group. "With the sporty uvex move campaign, we are not only promoting sportsmanship among our colleagues, but also making a contribution to the climate at the same time, because every tree we plant is an elixir of life and naturally binds CO2."
The trees were planted in a forest near Fernabrünst in the Nuremberg metropolitan region. This was done with the help of the employees who had logged the most kilometers, including Martina Stillger, Nina Schmidt and Ralf-Michael Faber. Under the expert guidance of the TreePlantingProjects team, they planted the seedlings in the ground. In this way, a climate-stable mixed forest is to be created there in the next few years.
